CFE Exam Changes: What You Need to Know
To continue to enhance the value of the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential, improve the CFE Exam process and better serve you, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) switched to a new exam delivery platform and proctoring provider in July 2021. Learn more about what this change means for you below.
WHAT HAS CHANGED?
The CFE Exam is administered through Prometric’s exam delivery system. You will have the option to take your exam in one of two ways:
At a private location of your choice using Prometric’s online remote proctoring platform
At one of the many Prometric testing centers located throughout the world
Upon receiving approval from the ACFE, you will need to schedule your exam appointments directly through Prometric. You will have 60 days to complete all four sections of the exam. Changes made within 30 days of an exam appointment will be subject to additional fees.
WHEN DID THIS CHANGE TAKE PLACE?
We begun administering exams using Prometric’s system on July 12, 2021. Anyone who has not completed and passed all four exam sections by that date will be transitioned to the new platform.
WHY DID THE ACFE MAKE THIS CHANGE?
The ACFE is committed to improving member experience whenever possible. Our new partnership with Prometric will make the CFE Exam more accessible to international test takers and provide all candidates with a smoother exam experience. With this change, those who choose the remote proctoring option will have access to live onboarding support and will be able to interact directly with their proctor. In addition, the delivery platform will have new features, such as the ability to highlight question text and strike out answer choices. This change also provides the option to take the CFE Exam at any of Prometric’s testing centers located throughout the world, offering an alternative for test takers who might have technological or logistical challenges with using the remote testing platform.
WILL THIS CHANGE AFFECT ME?
This change will affect you if you have not completed and passed all four exam sections by July 12, 2021. During the months leading up to July, we will communicate directly with in-progress test takers to provide specific guidance on transitioning to the new system.
WHAT ARE THE NEW EXAM REQUIREMENTS?
