Scott Cunningham of North Carolina recently became a CFE after attending the Nashville Review Course. Scott enjoys spending time with his family and attending his children’s sporting events. But last October, Scott put some time aside for himself to accomplish his goal of obtaining the CFE credential. Being a CFE will improve Scott’s abilities as a security professional by allowing him to better recognize instances of suspected fraud and move such issues to a quicker resolution.

Coach: When did you receive your CFE credential?
Cunningham:
I received the CFE certification on November 7, 2014.

Coach: You attended the CFE Exam Review Course in Nashville and following the course you sat for the CFE Exam on-site.  Please describe your experience of participating in the 4-day course and then sitting for the exam immediately after.
Cunningham:
The experience was very educational, albeit tiring at times. The information was relevant and pertained to the exam.  Taking the exam immediately after each segment allowed for greater focus.

Coach: What did you like most about the CFE Exam Review Course?
Cunningham:
Passing the exam!  The course provided the time to focus on the material, while also providing the opportunity to network.

Coach: In what ways do you feel that your new CFE credential will be beneficial to you in your current profession?
Cunningham:
As a security professional, the CFE credential will allow me to recognize instances of suspected fraud and move such issues to a quicker resolution.

Coach: How did you prepare yourself to sit for the exam on-site? Did you spend any additional time studying after class each day?
Cunningham:
I completed the online Prep Course before the Nashville Review Course.  I used the time after class for relaxing and exercise.

Coach: Would you recommend this course to your colleagues?
Cunningham:
Yes; the course provided the needed immersion into the study material.

Coach: How did you become passionate about fighting fraud?
Cunningham:
Fraud undermines trust and takes advantage of others unknowingly, which I find disheartening.  Working to get to the bottom of a complex case is an enjoyable challenge.

Coach: Now that we know what you do professionally, what do you like to do for fun and what do you find enjoyable about it?
Cunningham:
I enjoy my children’s sporting and scouting events, and of course, spending time with my wife.  Triathlons are an increasing passion.

Coach: Do you have any study tips or suggestions for aspiring CFEs?
Cunningham:
The online Prep Course, combined with the live course, are unbeatable preparation.

Thank you for your time and congratulations on your new CFE credential.
